Breast Uplift

A breast uplift is also known as a mastopexy and is a corrective surgery for people who have droopy sagging breasts, surgery will result in rounder firmer feeling & youthful looking breasts.

Sagging breasts can be a result of weight loss, childbirth or breastfeeding, ageing is also a factor. With age our breasts lose volume and shape, this affects skin elasticity causing breasts to sag lose shape and firmness.

A common method of lifting the breasts involves three incisions. One incision is made around the areola. Another runs vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease underneath the breast. The third incision is horizontal beneath the breast and follows the natural curve of the breast crease.

After the plastic surgeon has removed excess breast skin, the nipple and areola are shifted to a higher position. A breast lift is performed under a general anaesthetic and takes approximately 2-3 hours. You will be able to leave hospital on the same day, you must wear a support bra for for a minimum of one month after surgery. Your expectations can de discussed during your consultation with our surgeon and as with all cosmetic surgery procedures you need to be realistic about what you hope to achieve from surgery, as long as you have a realistic approach to the outcome your expectations can and will be achieved leaving you happy with the results of your surgery.

If you are planning to have children in the future it is probably best to postpone surgery until after childbirth as the effects of childbirth could be somewhat damaging to your breasts possibly undoing the result of surgery.
