Frequently Asked Questions
Why Choose Turkey
Turkey is at the forefront as far as cosmetic surgery and dentistry is concerned. It is cheaper to have surgery & dentistry in Turkey than it is in the UK, Europe or the USA and the materials used are of an equal standard to these places but a fraction of the price here in Turkey. All our doctors surgeons and dentists are highly qualified with a wealth of experience behind them. You can combine your medical trip with a holiday and have some rest and recuperation while you are here or if you prefer to keep busy you can visit the many tourist attractions Turkey has to offer.
Will my basic travel insurance cover me whilst I am in Turkey having surgery or dentistry?
Generally 'No' - A normal travel insurance will not cover you, but please check with your insurance provider before you travel. There are many specialised companies that offer a 'medical travel insurance' for travellers who are specifically travelling abroad for surgery, medical treatment or dentistry. These cover you and also a travelling companion if requested against unexpected cancellations on your behalf, if your recovery period in Turkey exceeds your anticipated length of stay here, post operative complications and return trips back to the hospital/dental surgery should they be required. - Please check with individual companies before travel and ensure you find out exactly what you are covered for.
Will I be met at the airport?
Yes - We will have a chauffeur to meet you at Izmir airport at the arranged time - you will be transported to your hotel and collected for all your appointments during your stay. After your appointments you will be chauffeured back to your hotel and upon you leaving Turkey you will be driven to the airport.
Can a companion travel with me?
Yes, of course. If you wish to travel with someone for moral support that is absolutely fine. They can accompany you to all your appointments should you wish to have them with you.
How long will I have to stay in Turkey for?
This will depend on what type of surgery, treatment or dentistry you have. We will however give you a guide to how long you are required to stay here. We will do this before you travel so you can make the relevant travel arrangements.
Will I be in contact with someone who speaks English?
Yes all our patient coordinators speak fluent English - We also have a native English speaker and all our doctors, surgeons and dentists are fluent in the English language.
Will I have a 'Cooling Off' period to consider my decision?
Yes - Initially you will have an online consultation with our patient coordinator - You will be given advice and costs for your chosen procedure. You are under no pressure and can think about your decision for as long as you need - Upon arriving in Turkey you will have a full in depth consultation with our surgeon/dentist - After this, again you can have as much time as you need before you commit - please consider though the length of time of your booked stay in Turkey and the amount of time that would be needed to perform the procedure before your departure back home.
Most patients have their 'cooling off' period before departing for Turkey, once they have booked their flights and confirmed appointments with our surgeon or dentist they are usually 99% certain that they want to follow through with their chosen procedure. However we fully understand that this can sometimes be a huge decision to make and you must be comfortable and happy with your decision , so if after your arrival here in Turkey and after a consultation you find you are still uncertain - take more time to think it through. We do offer UK consultations at a private hospital in Solihull - Birmingham should you wish to have a consultation in the UK before travel to Turkey.
Who arranges my accommodation for the duration of my stay?
If you would prefer we can assist you with this, there are a list of local hotels available on our website and we are happy to help you make arrangements - If you are an independent traveller and would prefer to make your own accommodation arrangements then feel free to do so - please do not forget to inform us of details of your chosen accommodation.
What after care or follow up will I receive?
Once you have had your surgery/dentistry and have returned home your patient coordinator will be contactable should you have any further questions or concerns. As part of our after care plan we will routinely contact you directly shortly after you return home to check you are happy with the outcome of your surgery or dentistry and to answer any questions you may have and to check on your recovery.
At a later date we will also contact you again as a final follow up.
Should you require after care upon your return to the UK i.e. the removal of stitches or replacement of dressings, we currently offer that facility at a private hospital based in Solihull Birmingham.
Will I have to stay in hospital during my visit?
This largely depends on the type of surgery you are having, we will advise you before you travel as to whether an overnight stay in hospital or longer is required. After surgery during your post op examination our surgeon will advise whether you can return to your hotel or whether they require you to stay at the hospital. Some procedures do require a stay in hospital others are done on an 'out patient' basis, and can depend on the results of the operation.
