IVF Egg Donation
Egg donation is a process where a women donates eggs usually 10-15. Eggs from egg donations are fertilized in a laboratory, once eggs have been donated the role of the egg donor is complete & they usually sign away any rights to the the involvement in the pregnancy or the child after birth.
Infertile couples may resort to egg donation when the woman can not have genetic children, sometimes a woman's eggs are damaged by disease or infection or they may have had to have their eggs removed for health reasons, some woman are simply born with ovaries and others are just unsuccessful at becoming pregnant with their own eggs.
Some couples opt to have their eggs from a member of their family or a close friend, others choose to have their eggs from an anonymous donor. All donated eggs are screened before they can be used, all egg donor are required to have a thorough medical and usually have to visit a psychologist before they are given permission to donate eggs.
The eggs are fertilized by the sperm of your partner or by an anonymous sperm donor if required. This process take place in a laboratory, after 3-5 days the embryo is then placed into the woman's uterus whose uterine lining has been prepared beforehand.
Egg donation has a success rate of approximately 60%.

The likelihood of multiple pregnancy is around 25-30% usually resulting in twins. The main reason for multiple pregnancies is the replacement of one or more embryo.
